Domenica de Ferranti studied under Charles H Cecil in Florence, focusing on portrait painting and sculpture. Since returning to London, she works predominantly as a sculptor, dividing her time between her own work and undertaking portrait commissions. For the most part Domenica’s work is cast in bronze but she also works in marble, plaster and wax. In 2011 she travelled to Oman and the work she made based on this adventure revolves around the interesting faces and cultural differences she saw there.
She is currently working on a series of canoes and we have two small examples of these here alongside work created in Africa and Oman.Domenica’s work is in private collections in the UK, Europe, America and Asia. She has won various awards including the Jackson Sculpture Prize, Chelsea Art Society, 2010; the Tiranti Prize, Society of Portrait Sculptors, 2009 and the Young Artist Award, Society of Women Artists, 2009.
