Colin Allbrook b. 1954

Colin Allbrook is one of the most respected and renowned painters in the South-West of England, being an elected member of: the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour (RI), the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA), The Society of Equestrian Artists (SEA), and the South West Academy. Spanning some 40 years, his pre-eminent career has been recognised in the form of several prestigious awards, while his paintings hang in private and corporate collections throughout the world.

It is of a quieter pace of life, however, that his paintings allude. Based on the River Taw in North Devon, Allbrook evokes quintessential ruralism in a manner that is at once celebratory and melancholic; bathed in golden hues of light, Allbrook illuminates the scenes of an ever-diminishing way of rural life.
